Korea Investment & Securities plans to acquire a stake in Coinone

Golden Finance News reports that on April 3, according to market sources, South Korea’s leading brokerage firm, Korea Investment & Securities, is currently conducting an initial review regarding the acquisition of shares in Coinone, South Korea’s third-largest crypto exchange. The firm is now moving forward with efforts to persuade the financial regulatory authorities and the National Assembly’s Political Affairs Committee; the steps are consistent with the path previously taken when Future Asset Group acquired Korbit.
Coinone’s current CEO, Cha Myung-hoon, holds 53.44% of the shares, but the soon-to-be introduced regulatory new rules may set the maximum shareholding limit for controlling shareholders at 15%-20%, creating an entry window for external buyers.
