U.S. officials: Third-party mediation has been ineffective; direct negotiations with Iran are needed

Golden Finance reports that on April 1, U.S. officials expressed concerns about conducting indirect negotiations with Iran through a third party, saying that direct negotiations would be more efficient. The official said that although Pakistan intends to help mediate the conflict, the U.S. side has reservations about using Islamabad as the venue for talks, mainly due to security risks. In addition, the official noted that the previous effort to broker talks through Oman was not effective. (CCTV)
