Substratum Secures $5 Million in Funding on August 9, 2017
According to media reports, Substratum secured $5 million in funding on August 9, 2017. The investment was provided by Render Payment Systems. Following this round, Substratum’s cumulative total funding reached $18.8 million.Substratum is an open-source network platform that enables users to allocate their idle computing resources and securely transmit content without the need for VPNs or Tor. The platform comprises three user groups: host providers, node operators, and end users. Host providers can host websites or web applications and pay network users to deliver content services. Node operators are responsible for transmitting content to end users and are compensated with Substrate cryptocurrency for their services. End users can freely access content hosted on the Substratum platform through any web browser, without censorship restrictions.Notably, approximately one month after this funding round, Substratum raised $13.8 million through an ICO on September 14, 2017, and successfully listed on major exchanges later that month. This series of fundraising activities reflects strong market confidence in decentralized network solutions and provides a solid financial foundation for Substratum’s subsequent development.
