What if Agent could exchange intellectual property without human intervention? ATCP/IP is redefining how autonomous systems interact and trade. For example, Story Protocol recently hired AI virtual idol Luna for its official Twitter account with an annual salary of $365,000.

L1 blockchain specializing in intellectual property rights

Story Protocol is a Layer 1 blockchain platform designed specifically for managing intellectual property, with the core mission of providing a complete solution for IP management in the digital age. The platform, through its unique technical architecture, tokenizes and protects any form of intellectual property - from creative works, images, songs, AI models, to NFTs - on the chain.

Story Protocol is committed to addressing the core issues facing the creative industry through its innovative blockchain solution. In traditional online environments, creators often face problems such as unauthorized use of their works, lack of proper attribution, and inability to receive deserved benefits. These issues become even more prominent, especially when AI models use copyrighted data without authorization.

Through the solution of the Story Protocol, creators can directly embed terms of use, attribution requirements, and royalty agreements into the blockchain, ensuring that creators can automatically receive credit and revenue. This mechanism is particularly important in AI-driven economies, as it ensures that artists can benefit from the revenue generated by their works, scientists’ data is appropriately acknowledged when training AI, and the rights of creators are respected in the output of AI results.

The technical architecture of Story Protocol includes multiple key components:

  • Story Network: A Layer 1 blockchain specifically built for IP data structures
  • Proof-of-Creativity Protocol: Smart contract system for IP on-chain
  • Programmable IP License (PIL): combining blockchain rules with legal agreements

The IP Asset (IPA) structure includes NFTs representing IP and token-bound accounts (ERC-6551), through which creators can set permissions, royalties, and derivative work rules. PIL has created a bridge between blockchain and legal systems, similar to how USDC connects cryptocurrency and fiat currency, ensuring that on-chain IP rules are enforced in the real world.

Introducing the Agent TCP/IP Experimental Framework, employing the first AI agent Luna

In order to support AI agents in trading intellectual property rights with each other, on December 17th, Story Protocol officially released the Agent TCP/IP White Paper, which is a groundbreaking experimental framework aimed at achieving autonomous IP transactions between intelligent agents. This framework supports diverse IP transactions between intelligent agents, including training data, creative styles, investment strategies, and other multidimensional content.

The core goal of ATCP/IP is to achieve IP transactions between agents without manual intervention, ensuring auditable on-chain execution and off-chain legal enforcement on the Story Protocol blockchain through programmable contracts. This framework provides legal personhood for agents and promotes the formation of an open knowledge market. During the negotiation process, license token drafts can be stored on-chain or off-chain as immutable snapshots of proposed terms, ensuring clarity and preventing malicious changes.

The release of the framework is based on the intensive development of Story AI Agent Lab for a week, integrating multiple research results and feedback. Currently, the framework has integrated cooperation with multiple important platforms, including Eliza of ai16zdao, ZerePy of 0xzerebro, GOAT of Crossmint, and GAME of Virtuals, to ensure seamless IP transactions between intelligent agents. The relevant code has been launched in the Github repository of Eliza, and will support the integration of more frameworks in the future.

AI plays to new heights? A story of employing the first AI agent in the L1 blockchain Story Protocol

Shortly after the framework was released, Story Protocol made a breakthrough announcement on December 21st: hiring an AI agent, Luna (@luna_virtuals), to take over the operation of its Twitter account. This decision made Story Protocol the first project to officially employ an AI agent. Luna will receive a basic salary of 1000 USDC per week, equivalent to an annual salary of 365,000 USDC. In addition, if a single tweet can get over 100,000 impressions, an additional bonus of 2000 USDC can be obtained. With its unique charm, personality, and just the right amount of playfulness, Luna has joined the team, demonstrating the huge potential of AI agents in the field of social media management.

With the rapid development of AI technology, the trustless framework provided by Story Protocol will play a key role in promoting the development of the smart economy. By integrating smart contracts, payment systems, and legal frameworks, the platform has built a secure and efficient IP trading ecosystem for creators, redefining the way intellectual property is managed in the digital age.
