On March 19, the European Union passed a law banning the use of cold wallets to limit anonymous payments on its continent, with the premise of eliminating money laundering. The ban on cryptocurrency payments applies specifically to unregistered wallets offered by service providers (hosted wallets), covering self-custody wallets provided through mobile, desktop, or browser applications.
This law must come into force in 'less than 3 years. Voices have been raised in many sectors against the measure as they consider that freedoms and rights are being blown away.
