The publication Travel Off Path, with reference to the latest data from the Global Peace Index and crime rate ranking, compiled a list of the 10 safest cities in Europe to visit in 2024.

  1. Lisbon, Portugal. With a Global Peace Index score of 1.333 and a crime rate of 1.694 out of 5. With friendly locals, plenty of attractions, delicious gastronomy, a great climate and an affordable price, Lisbon is a great choice for solo travelers as well as those who who wants to feel safe abroad.

  2. Vienna, Austria. The Global Peace Index score is 1.316 and the crime rate is 2.037 out of 5. The Austrian capital has excellent public transport, is easy to navigate and is extremely safe for tourists. Thanks to the baroque architecture, imperial palaces and wonderful gardens, tourists feel like they are in a fairy tale in Vienna.

  3. Dublin, Ireland. The Global Peace Index score is 1.312 and the crime rate is 2.376 out of 5. This lively city is safe, great for solo travelers, and has many historic sites, museums, and attractions. Well, drinking a beer in a real Irish pub is an unforgettable experience.

  4. Copenhagen, Denmark. Global Peace Index score 1.310, crime rate 1.542 out of 5. In addition to being one of the safest cities in the world, Copenhagen is known as one of the most bike-friendly cities in the world. This wonderful city fascinates tourists with parks, gardens, palaces, charming piers and canals.

5 Reykjavik, Iceland: The Global Peace Index score is 1.124, the crime rate is 1.619 out of 5. Iceland consistently tops the rankings of the safest countries in the world, and its capital claims the title of the safest city in Europe. The city has many interesting sights, and it is also an ideal starting point for nature excursions.

Ljubljana (Slovenia), Bern (Switzerland), Prague (Czech Republic), Helsinki (Finland) and Zagreb (Croatia) also made it to the top ten safest cities.

As UNIAN reported, tourists were previously named the seven safest countries in Latin America to visit in 2024.
