Golden Finance reports that on April 21, according to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the 20th, Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov and Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi held a telephone conversation on that day. Iran informed Russia of its position regarding three issues: the U.S. violation of the ceasefire, the illegal maritime blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, and the detention of Iranian container ships. Iran confirmed that it would do its best to ensure that Russian ships and cargo pass freely through the Strait of Hormuz. Russia emphasized that a ceasefire must be maintained, and that the ceasefire should be observed within the parameters initially coordinated and announced by the mediator, Pakistan. Russia stated that diplomatic efforts must continue to prevent the situation from spiraling out of control and to avoid armed confrontations from happening again. Russia reiterated its willingness to assist Iran in reaching a mutually acceptable agreement with Gulf Arab states. (CCTV News)
