What are the strategic considerations behind the AI question: the U.S. and Israel’s attack on Iran’s benchmark bridge?

On April 2, local time, the Beik Highway Bridge in Beyk, Karaj, Iran, was attacked again.

Earlier that day, Iran said that multiple targets in the Karaj Azimiyeh area were hit, including a bridge. The attack also injured multiple people.

It is reported that the target of the U.S. and Israel’s attack on that day was the Beik Highway Bridge, a flagship project in Iran’s engineering sector, described as one of the world’s most complex engineering achievements. It is part of the core road infrastructure of the Tehran–Karaj transportation corridor, and was originally planned to be officially put into operation soon.

The attack damaged the bridge’s main structural components, and the relevant road sections have been fully closed. The local government issued an emergency alert, urging the public to avoid the area. The attack also caused a power supply interruption in parts of Karaj, and the power company has dispatched repair crews to the scene to carry out emergency repairs.
