Analyst: Iran's statements regarding the Strait of Hormuz did not provide clear information.
Mars Finance News, April 17 — According to the WSJ, an shipping industry analyst stated that Iran’s Foreign Minister announced on Friday that the Strait of Hormuz is “completely open” to ships using designated Iranian routes, but this does not convince the shipping industry that shipping activities through the strait can be resumed. Richard Meade, editor of Lloyd’s List, said: “From a shipping perspective, this is indeed promising, but at the moment it doesn’t provide anyone with enough clear information to make any decisions.” The Iranian Foreign Minister’s statement did not explicitly clarify whether Iran still plans to charge tolls to passing ships.
