Just did some math on Elon's wealth and the numbers are actually insane. His net worth hit $486.4 billion by end of 2024, which means he was pulling in roughly $584 million per day. Let that sink in - that's about $24 million every hour, or if you want to get granular, around $6,750 every second. And that's before the recent volatility.

The wild part? He doesn't actually get a salary. All his wealth is locked in stock holdings across Tesla and SpaceX, so it swings massively depending on market conditions. By mid-2025, things had shifted - his net worth dropped about $48 billion year-to-date, which averaged out to roughly $191 million daily. Completely different picture from the 2024 peak.

What's interesting is how he built this in the first place. Started with Zip2, sold it to Compaq for $307 million. Then PayPal went to eBay for $180 million. But the real wealth came from Tesla and SpaceX.

With Tesla, he owns about 21% of the company, though more than half of that is locked up as loan collateral. Tesla's trading at $408.84 per share with a $1.28 trillion market cap. SpaceX is private and valued around $400 billion - they've done over 600 launches since 2002, with 160 just in 2025 alone.

The thing that gets me is how much of his wealth is theoretical until it's not. One market downturn and his daily earnings drop hundreds of millions. One good quarter and it swings the other way. It's wealth on a completely different scale than anything most people experience, but it's also way more volatile than people realize.
