On Friday, Meta(META.US) fell nearly 3% at the open, the largest intraday drop since March 6, and is now trading at $610.23. According to reports, three insiders said that Meta’s new AI model “Avocado”(Avocado), originally planned for release in mid-March, has been delayed and will be launched at the earliest in May. In internal testing, Meta found that “Avocado”’s logical reasoning, programming, and writing capabilities are clearly lagging behind competitors such as OpenAI and Anthropic, although it is better than its own older models and Google Gemini 2.5, it still cannot reach the level of Gemini 3.0. The sources said that Meta’s management even discussed temporarily using Google Gemini, but no final decision has been made so far.
