Finnish President: Finland will not deploy nuclear weapons

A reporter from the Central Television (CCTV) learned locally on the 13th that Finnish President Stubb said at a press conference held at the Presidential Palace that day, “Finland will not become a nuclear-weapon state, and Finland will not deploy nuclear weapons.” When asked whether Finland might deploy nuclear weapons in peacetime, Stubb said, “Finland does not need nuclear weapons in peacetime.” He said there is no reason to worry that Finland will become a nuclear-weapon state: “What we are doing now is updating our status as a NATO member country. We have never previously been involved in NATO’s nuclear-weapon planning.” (CCTV News)
