WCTC S8 is live — and the prize pool just hit $8,000,000 USDT.

Gate has officially launched the World Crypto Trading Competition Season 8, timed to mark the platform's 13th anniversary. This is not just another trading event on the calendar. WCTC S8 is the largest and most structurally evolved edition in the series, and if you have been waiting for a reason to sharpen your trading edge on a global stage, this is it.

What is WCTC?

The World Crypto Trading Competition is Gate's flagship annual trading championship, open to users worldwide. Every season brings together retail traders and experienced market participants competing across structured formats for real prize money. Season 8 builds on the foundation of previous editions while introducing meaningful upgrades that change how the competition feels from the inside.

Competition Structure

WCTC S8 runs for 28 days, starting April 23. Registration is open now. The event is divided into four core segments, each with its own prize pool allocation:

Bonus Event — An entry-level incentive layer designed to reward participants simply for registering and engaging early. New users and returning traders alike can benefit from this layer before the main competition heats up.

Team Trading Contest — Teams compete based on total trading volume and overall return across two stages. Team leaders can earn up to 108,000 USDT individually. The first 30 team captains whose teams reach 50 members share an additional 3,000 USDT bonus. This segment carries the highest share of the total prize pool, rewarding both individual performance and collective coordination. Building or joining a strong team is arguably the highest-leverage participation strategy in this competition.

Solo Trading Contest — Individual participants are ranked by total trading volume. The minimum threshold to qualify for rewards is 20,000 USDT in total trading volume across the event period. This format suits traders who prefer to compete on their own terms without the dependency of a team structure.

Champions Showdown (1v1 PvP) — The most notable new addition to WCTC S8. This format pits traders directly against each other in head-to-head matchups, introducing a layer of real-time competition that did not exist in previous seasons. The Champions Showdown adds a tactical dimension — you are not just outperforming a leaderboard, you are outperforming a specific opponent.

Prize Pool Mechanics

The total prize pool across Team Contest, Solo Contest, and Champions Showdown can reach up to 7,200,000 USDT, with the full $8 million figure inclusive of bonus events and additional incentives. The pool is dynamic — it unlocks based on the number of valid users, defined as participants with at least 10,000 USDT in total trading volume during the event. This means the more active the participation, the larger the rewards available across the board. Rewards are distributed within 15 business days after the competition closes.

Expanded Trading Scope: TradFi Counts

One of the most significant structural changes in S8 is the inclusion of TradFi (traditional finance) asset trading in competition statistics. Gate supports over 350 traditional assets including metals, indices, equities, forex, and commodities. For WCTC S8, trading volume and returns from TradFi positions are counted alongside crypto trading in competition results. This is a direct reflection of Gate's multi-asset strategy and means participants are no longer limited to crypto pairs when building their competitive edge. A trader with conviction in gold, indices, or currency pairs now has a legitimate path to competitive standing alongside pure crypto traders.

Eligibility and Rules

To receive rewards, you must register via the official event page before the competition ends and have completed identity verification. The following account types are excluded from participation: API accounts, VIP 15 and above, market makers, enterprise or institutional accounts, and subaccounts. Trading volume from stablecoin-to-stablecoin pairs — such as USDC/USDT, GUSD/USDT, or USD1/USDT — does not count toward competition volume. Subaccounts cannot participate independently, and their volume does not roll up to the main account. Wash trading, self-trading, collusive trading, and market manipulation result in immediate disqualification and potential account action. Physical prizes are delivered through the Gate Shop and must be claimed within the valid period.

Why This Season Matters

WCTC has grown with each edition. Season 7 offered a $5 million prize pool. Season 8 raises that to $8 million — a 60% increase — while simultaneously broadening what counts as competitive trading and introducing PvP mechanics that make every matchup personal. The format now accommodates different types of traders: those who thrive in teams, those who prefer solo runs, those who want to test themselves in direct confrontation, and those who trade across asset classes beyond crypto. That breadth is what makes S8 the most accessible high-stakes competition Gate has ever run.

The 13th anniversary framing is not cosmetic. Gate was founded in 2013, now serves over 51 million users, supports more than 4,500 crypto assets, and was the first exchange to achieve 100% proof of reserves. WCTC S8 is the platform using its anniversary to do something tangible for its trading community rather than running a standard promotional cycle.

If you are eligible and serious about your trading, the registration window is open now. The competition starts April 23. The prize pool is waiting.
