Old neighborhoods and commercially built houses will be purchased by the government to provide services and build shared fire safety facilities.

At today’s (8th) policy briefing held by the Ministry of Emergency Management and the National Fire and Rescue Department, officials from the National Fire and Rescue Department introduced that in response to the longstanding issues of weak fire safety infrastructure and prominent hazards in large-scale, widespread old neighborhoods, commercial self-built houses, and other areas, the General Office of the State Council recently issued the “Opinions on Strengthening Grassroots Firefighting Work.” The document proposes innovative measures: adopting government procurement of services, establishing shared regional fire control rooms and self-defense and self-rescue forces, promoting new intelligent fire safety products, and including them in government livelihood projects.
