Just went through updating my SASSA details and honestly it's not as complicated as people make it sound, but you definitely need to know the right steps. So if you're trying to verify SASSA banking details, here's what actually works. For the permanent grants, you can't do it online - you have to go to the office in person. Bring your ID and a recent bank statement (not older than 3 months) to prove the account is yours. The form takes like 10 minutes, then they send it to the bank and it takes up to 21 days. Just make sure you submit before the 15th of the month or you'll wait another cycle. For the SRD grant though, it's all online which is way faster. You go to the portal, enter your ID, and they send you a verification link via SMS. The whole process is more secure that way. One thing - make sure whatever account you're using is actually in your name. SASSA won't pay into joint accounts or anything sketchy. And definitely use the official portal, not some random site claiming to help you update. Anyone else deal with this recently? The verification part can be slow but at least once it's done you're sorted.
