Honor is in talks with ByteDance about the "Doubao Phone" collaboration
According to media reports, sources familiar with the matter revealed that Honor is in talks with ByteDance regarding a collaboration related to the “Doubao Phone.”
The aforementioned insider disclosed that before ByteDance partnered with ZTE to launch the first-generation Doubao Phone, the first smartphone manufacturer they approached was actually Honor.
However, Honor was quite cautious at the time, believing that such in-depth system-level cooperation carried certain risks: the Doubao Phone, as an exploratory engineering prototype, could adopt a more aggressive technical approach;
Meanwhile, Honor has hundreds of millions of users, and if new services encounter issues with stability, compatibility, or security, it could very likely lead to widespread functional anomalies and user complaints, making it difficult to cover the related risks.
