The US-Iran talks ended without result, and Trump threatened to block the strait and resume limited military strikes. Iran's nuclear issue became the biggest point of disagreement.
Mars Finance News, on April 13th, the US-Iran negotiations lasted over 20 hours but ended without result. Both negotiation delegations have left Pakistan, and prospects for talks are bleak. After the meeting, Trump directly stated that the biggest red line is Iran’s non-nuclear status, and instructed the US Navy to blockade the Strait of Hormuz, intercepting all ships paying tolls to Iran. Meanwhile, Trump threatened to resume limited military strikes against Iran. The latest developments in the US-Iran conflict are as follows:
US side:
Trump and his advisors are considering, alongside the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, resuming limited military strikes against Iran to break the current deadlock in peace negotiations.
Trump: Since nuclear talks failed, the Strait of Hormuz will be blocked immediately. NATO is willing to help us maintain the security of the strait, and Gulf allies have begun assisting.
US Central Command: From 10 PM tonight (Beijing time), US forces will blockade Iran’s port maritime traffic. Central Command units will not hinder the freedom of navigation for ships traveling to and from non-Iranian ports through the Strait of Hormuz.
Vance: No agreement reached; Iran chose not to accept US conditions.
Trump: The Iranians have not left the negotiation table; they are expected to return and give us everything we want. The talks with Iran ended on a “very friendly” note. Besides the nuclear issue, the US and Iran have reached consensus on “most issues.”
Trump: The US may strike Iran’s seawater desalination plants and power plants; any Iranians firing on us or peaceful ships will be blown into “hell.”
Iran side:
Iranian officials say they resisted three major “unreasonable demands” from the US during negotiations.
Iranian President: Iran is ready to reach a balanced and fair agreement. If the US “re-enters the framework of international law,” an agreement is imminent.
Iranian Parliament advances new plan: hostile nation fleets will be prohibited from passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
Iranian Revolutionary Guard: Non-military ships are allowed to pass through the Strait of Hormuz. Any warship approaching the Strait will be considered a violation of the ceasefire agreement and will face forceful retaliation.
Israel side:
Israeli media: The Israeli military is preparing to launch another attack on Iran.
Israeli assessments show that the northern front situation will escalate within 48 hours, and border town schools will be closed.
Others:
Insiders: The UK excludes participation in the US blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.
UK government spokesperson: We are working with France and other partners to form a broad coalition to protect navigation freedom in the Strait of Hormuz.
Pakistani Foreign Minister emphasizes that all parties should strictly adhere to the ceasefire commitments.
Informed officials: The second round of US-Iran talks may be held within a few days.
