You know, Kimbal Musk is actually an interesting character—one who is talked about far less often than his brother. Recently, he posted a rather sharp critique of Trump on X, saying that the latter supposedly introduced the biggest taxes in generations through his tariff policy. What’s funny is that Kimbal Musk, with a fortune of about 700 million dollars (, mostly thanks to Tesla shares ), isn’t shy about voicing his opinion, even if it goes against Elon’s position.
And here’s what’s interesting—brothers, despite disagreements over politics, are very close. Kimbal Musk and Elon are similar not only in appearance: the same square jaw, a straight nose, and green eyes. Both were born in Pretoria and have South African, Canadian, and American citizenship. But there’s one special feature that immediately sets the younger brother apart—he constantly wears a cowboy hat; that’s his trademark style.
In general, the Musk family history is pretty harsh. Kimbal, his sister Tosca ( with 50 ) years, and Elon survived violence within the family at the hands of their father, which led to their mother Maya’s divorce in 1979. Then the family moved to Canada, and afterward to the United States. It was there that both brothers created Zip2—a startup for business software. They sold it to Compaq in 1999 for a substantial 307 million. So, the story of Kimbal Musk and his brother is not only about success, but also about how they overcame a difficult childhood.
