Why it matters:

20% of global oil is stuck behind the Strait of Hormuz. Iran has blocked it, and China helped them keep it blocked by supplying missile/drone components and intelligence.

In return, Chinese vessels get safe passage while the rest of the world pays $2 million per ship or waits.

600+ ships are stranded while Chinese ones keep moving. Do the math.

Now whether Trump follows through on this threat is a different story, as the economic ramifications on the U.S. and China would be catastrophic
