Do you know that mystery about how many bitcoins Satoshi Nakamoto has? Well, the number is truly astonishing. About 1.1 million coins, all still untouched since 2010. If you do the math with the current price, we're talking about a fortune exceeding $78 billion. It’s enough to make anyone think.
What’s even more intriguing is that Satoshi simply disappeared. No one knows who he is, no one knows if he’s alive or dead, and above all, no one knows why he never moved a single satoshi of his fortune. All of this since the network started back in 2010. Imagine having billions in Bitcoin and never touching a thing.
Some time ago, when BTC surged above $122,000, estimates suggested Satoshi’s wealth would reach close to $134 billion. That would place him among the richest people on the planet, easily surpassing names like Michael Dell and Rob Walton, and coming very close to Steve Ballmer and Warren Buffett. Practically in the 10th position among the world’s biggest fortunes.
But what makes all of this even more intriguing is how it all began. Satoshi didn’t create a traditional company, didn’t go to venture capitalists, didn’t list anything on the stock exchange. He just launched Bitcoin and disappeared. Sixteen years later, this network is valued in the trillions of dollars. It’s like planting a seed and then vanishing, leaving the tree to grow on its own.
His wallet is a complete mystery. All coins were mined in the early days, when you could do that on any laptop. And nothing, absolutely nothing, has been moved since then. This fuels endless speculation: did Satoshi die? Did he disappear intentionally? Or simply decide never to interfere again with what he created?
Bitcoin continues breaking records, driven by flows into ETFs and growing institutional demand. Each new peak highlights even more how much the cryptocurrency has evolved since Satoshi’s last message on a forum, back in 2011. The difference between then and now is simply staggering.
Satoshi’s fortune remains theoretical, of course. No Bitcoin has been sold, nothing has been verified as accessible. But the valuation itself already says a lot about the path the crypto market has taken. It’s a fascinating story of anonymity, mystery, and unprecedented global impact.
