Russian representative: If the draft resolution involving the Strait of Hormuz passes, it will set a dangerous precedent

Russia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Nebenzya, made an explanatory statement on July 7 after the Security Council failed to adopt a draft resolution on the Strait of Hormuz, saying that if the draft resolution were adopted, it would set a dangerous precedent for international law. On the same day, the UN Security Council voted on a draft resolution involving the Strait of Hormuz; 11 voted in favor, Pakistan and Colombia abstained, and China and Russia, as permanent members, voted against. The draft resolution was not adopted. (Xinhua News Agency)
