Just saw Ledger dealing with another data exposure situation - this time through their payment processor Global-e. Apparently someone got unauthorized access to customer names and contact info from Global-e's cloud system. Not great, but here's the thing: it's not actually Ledger's platform that got hacked, it's the payment processor. The company's emphasizing that your 24-word seed phrases and crypto assets are totally safe since Ledger's self-custodial. Payment data wasn't touched either. Still, this is frustrating given Ledger's history - they had that 2020 breach affecting 270k customers and got hit for nearly $500k in 2023. Global-e says they caught the unusual activity and brought in forensic experts to investigate. Other brands using Global-e were affected too, so this wasn't just targeting Ledger. The number of affected Ledger customers hasn't been disclosed yet. Makes you think about how much third-party risk these platforms carry, even when their core systems stay secure. Anyone else getting tired of these payment processor breaches?
