April 10 Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) will announce the first batch of stablecoin licenses at 5:00 PM. Afterward, licensed stablecoin issuers will meet with media representatives. Previously, HKMA completed the final review of the first batch of applications in mid-March 2026 and is now in the stage of preparing an official public announcement. HKMA received a total of 36 applications and plans to issue 2-3 licenses in this first batch, adhering to strict regulatory standards. In early February this year, HKMA CEO Eddie Yue stated that they intend to issue the first stablecoin issuer licenses in Hong Kong in March, emphasizing that "the number of licenses issued in the first batch will definitely be limited, with a focus on caution."
