The Israel Defense Forces issued a statement on the 7th saying that on the 6th, the IDF carried out large-scale airstrikes across multiple locations in Iran, targeting petrochemical facilities, ballistic missile sites, and other targets.
The statement said that the IDF’s airstrike targets were key Iranian infrastructure, including a petrochemical facility in Shiraz, which is said to be used to produce nitric acid for Iran’s armed forces.
The statement stated that nitric acid is an important raw material for manufacturing explosives and ballistic missiles.
The statement said that this facility is one of the few remaining in Iran that continues to produce critical explosive chemical materials and missile-related materials after the IDF previously targeted Iran’s “largest petrochemical facility” and the Mahshahr Petrochemical Economic Zone.
This strike further weakened Iran’s capacity to produce related weapons.
The statement also said that in the same operation, the IDF targeted a large ballistic missile site in northwest Iran.
The statement claimed that this site had launched dozens of missiles at Israel.
