JUST IN: Bitcoin Depot, a cryptocurrency ATM operator, reported to the SEC that it suffered a corporate hack in March that resulted in the theft of 50.9 BTC, valued at $3.665 million. The company stated that customer data and user facing platforms were not affected, but warned of potential legal, regulatory, and reputational costs.
Bitcoin Depot reported that attackers accessed its IT systems on March 23 and obtained credentials for digital asset settlement accounts.
The company estimated a preliminary loss of $3.66 million from the theft of 50.9 BTC and classified the incident as material to its operations.
