Air New Zealand said Tuesday that, due to disruptions to global air travel caused by the Middle East conflict and higher jet fuel costs, the company will significantly reduce flights in May and June and raise ticket prices.

The airline said the flight consolidation is the second time within the past month that it has taken such measures, affecting about 4% of flights and 1% of passengers, who are expected to travel in May and June.

A spokesperson for Air New Zealand said, “Like airlines worldwide, we are currently facing jet fuel prices more than double the normal level.”

The company said affected customers will be notified starting from 21:00 GMT on Monday, and all notifications will be completed by the end of this weekend.

Air New Zealand previously, in March—about two weeks after the outbreak of the conflict—announced that it would cut flights by 5% before early May.
