Iran’s new Supreme Leader issues a hardline message; the U.S. “quick war, quick resolution” plan falls short

On the 12th, local time, Iran’s newly appointed supreme leader, Mujtaba Khamenei, issued his first statement after taking office. In the statement, he said that Iran would continue using the measure of blocking the Strait of Hormuz and called on neighboring countries in the region to shut down U.S. military bases as soon as possible. Afterwards, the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy said that its forces would carry out the supreme leader’s instructions and continue to blockade the Strait of Hormuz.
