The National Radio and Television Administration has effectively deployed and carried out “AI Magic Modification” video governance work, achieving tangible results.
People’s Finance News, April 8—To address the chaos in the spread of “AI-manipulated and altered” videos, the National Radio and Television Administration carried out a special campaign in January 2026 lasting one month. The focus was on removing illegal videos that used “AI-manipulated and altered” techniques based on classic TV drama works such as the Four Great Classical Novels, historical-themed productions, revolutionary-themed content, and stories featuring exemplary individuals, and it also simultaneously cleared all kinds of obscene animations. The special campaign cleared more than 23,000 related illegal videos and handled more than 100 illegal accounts, effectively curbing the adverse trend of illegal videos spreading. Since February 1, the “AI-manipulated and altered” video governance work has been carried out continuously through long-term mechanisms that are normalized and institutionalized. In light of the characteristics of the production and distribution of illegal “AI-manipulated and altered” videos, the National Radio and Television Administration has supervised all major online audio-visual platforms to further deepen and implement their main responsibilities, improve working procedures, strengthen review capabilities, and intensify routine checks—resolutely clearing illegal videos. It also publishes governance results on a monthly basis and accepts public oversight. As of March 31, major online audio-visual platforms had cleared nearly 29,000 illegal videos and dealt with more than 40 illegal accounts.
