On April 8, US Vice President Pence stated that there has been positive progress regarding the Iran issue, as Iran has agreed to open the Strait of Hormuz. He pointed out that military objectives against Iran have been achieved. The US and its allies have agreed to cease attacks on Iran, forming the basis for a ‘fragile ceasefire.’ He noted that the domestic reaction in Iran to the ceasefire is mixed, with some people being very positive while others are distorting the achievements made. Pence emphasized that President Trump has lost patience regarding the Iran issue, and if Iran does not engage in negotiations sincerely, they will find that Trump is not to be trifled with. Trump has instructed the US negotiating team to reach an agreement with Iran ‘in good faith,’ but has also made it clear that if Iran is not sincere or violates the agreement, there will be consequences.
