Recently, I've been pondering an interesting question: what will the next form of the internet look like? Many people are discussing Web 3.0, but in fact, some industry insiders are already sketching out the outline of Web 4.0.

In simple terms, Web 4.0 is the ultimate form that combines AI, the Internet of Things, and quantum computing on top of the decentralization foundation of Web 3.0. Imagine an internet ecosystem that can self-optimize, make intelligent decisions, and seamlessly connect everything—that's the goal Web 4.0 aims to achieve.

From a technological perspective, this new era of the internet will have several core features. First is true intelligence—not just simple recommendation algorithms, but AI-driven context-aware interactions. Next is immersive experience, where XR and 3D visualization will become standard, not rare. Then there's autonomy—the network itself can self-repair and self-optimize without human intervention. Of course, decentralization and blockchain governance are also central, complemented by quantum-level encryption security.

The technology stack supporting Web 4.0 is already on the horizon. Blockchain, AI, IoT, XR, quantum computing, edge computing, 5G/6G networks—these are not just fantasies; they are gradually maturing. I believe the most imaginative application scenarios are in smart cities, healthcare, and finance. Imagine decentralized banking systems, fully personalized medical solutions, and truly intelligent urban infrastructure—all becoming realities in the Web 4.0 era.

Of course, this process won't be smooth sailing. Scalability, cross-chain interoperability, regulatory frameworks, and security are all challenges ahead. Moreover, to truly get the public to accept and use Web 4.0 applications, we need to overcome cognitive barriers and trust issues.

In terms of timeline, we are still in the exploration phase of Web 3.0. Between 2025 and 2030, this window is likely a period of deepening Web 3.0 and early experiments with Web 4.0. The large-scale application of Web 4.0 might not appear until the mid-2030s. Interestingly, from the information internet of Web 1.0, to the social internet of Web 2.0, to the value internet of Web 3.0, now evolving into the intelligent autonomous internet of Web 4.0—each step is rewriting our way of life.

That said, Web 4.0 is still just a concept for now. Its actual development path will depend on technological breakthroughs and market demand evolution. But this direction is definitely correct and worth paying attention to.
