Chinese student in Thailand apartment falls to death, leaving a farewell note on the wall of the room; police find his girlfriend's body in the bathroom.
Ask AI · What is the current progress of the police investigation into this incident?
At 1:30 a.m. local time on April 5, Thai police received a report saying that a young man died after falling from a nine-story dormitory building near a well-known university in Pathum Thani Province. A few hours later (at 10:30 a.m. the same day), police found another deceased person in the same room in that dormitory building.
After officers arrived at the scene, the situation inside the room was shocking. They found the body of a woman in the bathroom, with more than 30 stab wounds across her body. Injuries to her neck and chest were fatal. There were clear signs of a struggle inside the room. What was most surprising was that there were English farewell messages written on multiple walls inside the room. Reports say the two victims were a couple. At present, forensic experts have been called in to analyze the handwriting and determine the emotional states of the two people involved at the time of the incident. Investigators believe the victims’ families were in good financial condition, and there are no signs that this case is related to financial motives.

Reportedly, the identities of the two victims who died are, respectively, a 30-year-old Chinese exchange student man, Dan (transliteration), and a 21-year-old female student, Nattanic(h)a, a first-year student at the same university. The incident took place at a nine-story apartment building.
After receiving the first emergency call, police found a male body on the ground on the eastern side of the building. The victim was lying face up, wearing beige shorts and glasses. There were obvious cuts on his face and both wrists, and there was a black Roman numeral tattoo below his right forearm. Initially, no relatives had arrived to identify him, and police were unable to immediately confirm which floor he had fallen from.
A resident living on the 9th floor provided important information. The resident told police that at about 1 a.m. on the day of the incident, he was asleep at home when he suddenly heard someone knocking at the door. He did not see anyone through the peephole. After opening the door, he found a man sitting at the entrance with blood all over his face. He quickly closed the door in panic and notified the property management security. Later, the man appeared at the window on the south side of the building. When the resident went downstairs, he only then discovered that the man had already fallen to his death, confirming that it was the person who had knocked earlier.
During the day on the 5th, after conducting checks, police identified the room where the man who fell was staying. After entering the house, police saw clear signs of a struggle: items scattered around, and blood stains on both the floor and the bed. At the scene, police also found a passport, confirming that the deceased was the 30-year-old Chinese man Dan (transliteration), an exchange student at the school.
While searching the incident scene, police found another body in the bathroom. Preliminary identification determined that the body was female. She had more than 30 stab wounds. The fatal injuries were located in the chest and neck, and the estimated time of death was approximately 8 hours earlier.
What most surprised the police was that on the walls of the incident home, there were English words allegedly written in blood. After identification, the gist of the message was suspected to be “I have to go… I really did my best. Understanding is more important than money…”
Based on the police’s preliminary investigation information, the two deceased were classmates at the university and were in a romantic relationship. Since June 2025, Dan had been renting the room.
A Chinese exchange student living next door said that about two weeks ago, he had heard the man become heated in a call with someone. Police, based on CCTV footage, roughly inferred the timeline before the incident. At around 5:00 p.m. on April 4, Dan entered the room, while the female student arrived at around 8:40 p.m. After that, both of them did not leave the room. At around 1:00 a.m. on April 5, Dan knocked on the door of a resident in the same building and was seen with blood on his body. At around 2:00 a.m., someone saw Dan going to the 9th floor.
Based on the preliminary investigation, police suspect that the two may have had a heated argument. Dan first killed the woman with a knife, then attempted self-harm, wrote words on the wall with blood, and ultimately chose to jump to his death in suicide.
At present, the bodies of the two victims have been sent to the Forensic Research Institute at the Thai Police and Law Enforcement University for a detailed autopsy. Police will promptly question relevant witnesses to further uncover the truth and motive behind the incident. Meanwhile, a forensic handwriting expert has been brought in to study the “blood letter” written on the wall, to determine the mental state of the people involved at the time of the incident and what they hoped to convey.
