You know, I've long noticed that newcomers to the crypto market often fall victim to the same scheme. Many don't even understand what a pump is or how it works in practice until they lose money. So I decided to share what I see happening regularly.

This story is quite simple: a group of people quietly buys up a little-known cryptocurrency, then starts creating hype on social media and in chats. Rumors, promises, positive news — all of this floods investors' minds. The price begins to rise, people see this and want to jump on the wave too. Demand increases, and the price skyrockets. And at this moment, when everyone is already in euphoria, the organizers start selling en masse. The price drops sharply, and those who bought at the peak are left with losses.

By the way, what exactly is a pure pump? It’s when the price soars without any real reasons. No news, no updates, nothing — just the coin suddenly starts increasing in value. That’s already a warning sign.

I’ve noticed several signals that help understand when manipulation is happening. The first is an abnormal spike in trading volume. If active trading suddenly begins and the price rises simultaneously, it could be a sign. The second is activity in chats and forums. When unknown accounts start advising everyone to buy a specific token, it’s clearly suspicious. The third is pressure to act quickly. “Buy now or miss out” — a classic tactic.

How to protect yourself? I always start with basic analysis. I research the team behind the project, look at their roadmap, and try to understand if they have real use cases. Serious projects don’t hide information. Then I look at fundamental indicators — these are much more important than another price spike.

Diversification is another key. Never invest everything in one coin, especially if it shows signs of manipulation. Spread the risk. And of course, trade on reputable exchanges that have fraud protection systems.

One last thing: be skeptical of hype. Genuine investments are based on analysis and common sense, not FOMO and rumors. Keep up with the news, learn to recognize manipulation — and then what a pump and dump is won’t be a trap for you, but just another risk you can avoid.
