Dozens of protesters stormed the Kuwaiti consulate in Basra on Tuesday evening, with security forces using tear gas in an attempt to disperse them.

A reporter from Shafaq News in the province said that a large demonstration took place in front of the Kuwaiti consulate in Basra, protesting the targeting of a house in the province by aerial bombardment.

He added that security forces in front of the embassy used tear gas to disperse the protesters before they managed to breach the consulate’s wall.

He continued that the protesters managed to lower the Kuwaiti flag from the consulate and raise the Iraqi flag instead.

A security source reported on Tuesday evening that the bombing targeting a house in Khur Al-Zubair, within Sibaun District in Basra Province in southern Iraq, was a missile attack launched from Kuwait, targeting a meeting of an armed faction.
