Venezuela appoints a new Minister of Defense

On March 18, local time, Venezuela’s acting Vice President Delcy Rodríguez announced that Gustavo González López will succeed Padriñino López as Minister of Defense. Gustavo González López is 66 years old this year. Previously, he served as the commander of the Venezuelan presidential honor guard and the director of the Military Counterintelligence General Directorate, and he has also served as the Minister of Interior, Justice, and Peace.
