It’s gaining attention as a new content creation method alongside PGC and UGC, but with the advent of ChatGPT, this field has suddenly taken center stage. The fact that within just one month of its release, the monthly active users exceeded 100 million speaks to the enormous impact.

Not only in text generation but also in image creation, AIGC has rapidly matured. In fact, the emergence of GANs (Generative Adversarial Networks) in 2014 marked the starting point of this trend, establishing a system where the generative model and the discriminative model compete and learn from each other. Since then, in 2020, significant movement also began in the blockchain space.

Platforms like Art Blocks have enabled programmable generative art to exist as immutable NFTs on Ethereum. I believe this is the first successful example of AIGC merging with Web3. Since then, major exchanges have also launched AI-generated tools, and the entire industry is starting to move.

The speed of AIGC development in 2022 was truly astonishing. At the beginning of the year, it was still immature, but within a few months, it reached a practical level. Now, content is being generated at a professional level, indistinguishable from human-made.

From the perspective of implementing the metaverse, the maturation of AIGC is incredibly significant. If high-quality content can be generated efficiently and in large quantities, building virtual worlds becomes more feasible. It can drastically reduce labor costs and open up infinite possibilities for creativity.

Considering current technological trends, it’s not far-fetched to imagine a system where users can explore virtual worlds infinitely in the near future. This would be a development that truly symbolizes the era of Web 3.0. The fusion of AIGC and the metaverse marks the beginning of a new age of creation. I believe that’s what’s happening right now.
