The U.S.-Iran war will most likely end with Iran holding de facto control of the Strait of Hormuz (collecting tolls), and the United States will not recognize it on legal grounds (but will default to it). This is America’s moment of the Suez Canal. (In 1956, when the UK lost control of the Suez Canal, this is seen as the end of the British Empire’s global hegemony.) The bear market cycle isn’t finished yet; event-driven rebounds are also opportunities to add to shorts. There’s also a small chance of fighting again.
