The sodium battery concept rises, Chuan Yi Technology and Gao Le Shares hit the daily limit, Bolivian and others surge significantly.
The sodium-ion battery concept strengthened intraday over a seven-day period, pushing higher. As of the time of this release, BoLiWei was up more than 13%. AVE Blue LithiumCore, Shengquan Group, Zhenyi Technology, Gaole Shares and others hit the daily limit. LianDe Equipment was up about 8%.
In the news, according to a report by the Science and Technology Daily, on April 6, a team led by Hu Yongsheng at the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, published a major breakthrough in Nature Energy: the team successfully developed a polymerizable non-flammable electrolyte (PNE) with a self-protecting function. For the first time worldwide, it achieved a complete shutdown of thermal runaway in an ampere-hour-class sodium-ion battery. This achievement has updated people’s understanding of battery safety and lays a solid foundation for the commercialization of sodium-ion batteries in areas such as electric vehicles, heavy-duty trucks, and large-scale energy storage.
In addition, from April 1 to April 3, the 14th International Energy Storage Summit and Exhibition, ESIE 2026, was held at the Beijing Capital International Exhibition Center. At this exhibition, battery companies actively rolled out new products such as high-capacity cells and sodium-ion batteries, in line with the latest development trends in the energy storage industry. For example, CATL launched a sodium-ion battery specifically for energy storage, using a platform-based design with the same casing as the 587Ah lithium battery: capacity of 300+Ah, energy efficiency of 97%, and a cycle life of more than 15,000 times. It can cover 2–8 hour large-scale energy storage and AIDC scenarios. Envision Energy released its first sodium-ion cell dedicated to energy storage and announced that it has already been rolled off the production line. The sodium-ion cell has a capacity exceeding 180Ah, a cycle life of no less than 20,000 cycles, and an operating temperature range covering -40℃ to 70℃. It can operate stably in both extremely cold and high-temperature environments. CITIC Securities believes that, as the price of lithium carbonate gradually rises, the introduction of technologies such as high-capacity cells and sodium-ion batteries is expected to accelerate further.
