Ford recalls 422,000 trucks and SUVs over wiper arm defect that may impair visibility
A wiper arm defect affecting more than 422,000 vehicles has prompted a new Ford $F -1.21% recall, with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration warning that broken arms could impair driver visibility and elevate the likelihood of a crash.
The recall covers 2021-2023 Ford Expeditions and Lincoln Navigators, along with 2022-2023 F-Series Super Duty trucks — including the F-250, F-350, F-450, F-550, and F-600.

Ford has set April 13 as the date for mailing an initial notice to affected owners about the defect. A follow-up mailing will go out after the company finalizes a fix, at which point dealers will perform the inspection and replacement of the part at no cost to the owner. Owners can also contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 and reference recall number 26S24, or search their Vehicle Identification Number on NHTSA.gov as of April 1, 2026.
The recall is part of a broader pattern of safety actions at Ford. The automaker issued 89 recalls in the first half of 2025 alone, more than any automaker had ever issues in a full calendar year. Ford’s chief operating officer told the Wall Street Journal that the rise in recalls reflected an “intensive strategy to quickly find and fix any hardware and software issues.” The company said it has doubled its safety team and scaled up testing on critical systems.
More recently, Ford recalled 254,640 Lincoln and Explorer SUVs due to a software flaw that could disable rearview cameras and driver-assistance features such as pre-collision assist, lane-keeping assist, and blind-spot monitoring.
