Jin10 Data, April 8 — On Tuesday, President Trump threatened to "destroy Iranian civilization" in a post about Iran. This statement sparked calls from Democratic members of Congress to remove the president from office, reaching a heated stage. Lawmakers are openly discussing impeaching or even removing Trump under the 25th Amendment — a stark contrast to the beginning of Trump's second term, when Democrats avoided such proceedings. As grassroots Democrats grow increasingly angry at the actions of the Trump administration, their allies on Capitol Hill are also leaning toward more aggressive measures. Currently, 65 Democratic House members are calling for Trump's impeachment or removal under the 25th Amendment. However, final approval requires a two-thirds majority in both houses of Congress, and Democrats are currently a minority in both chambers.
Senior Democratic leaders in Congress also strongly condemned Trump's remarks. They questioned Trump's mental state and called on Republicans to intervene. "This person is gravely ill," Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said. "Every Republican who refuses to vote against this reckless war will bear the full consequences of this conflict."
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries stated, "Congress must immediately end this reckless Iran war to prevent Trump from dragging us into a third world war. Now is the time for every Republican to put patriotism above party interests and stop this madness."
Jin10 Data, April 8 — Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif previously proposed a "two-week plan" to give time for US-Iran negotiations. A regional source said, "We expect some good news to come soon from both sides," and indicated that the talks are being directly led by Pakistani Army Chief General Asim Munir. An agreement is expected to be finalized tonight local time.
