Do you remember Erik Finman? The guy who, at age 12, spent $1,245 from his grandma on Bitcoin and eventually became the youngest Bitcoin millionaire in the world? His story is truly crazy.
It all started in 2011, when Bitcoin was just a two-year-old. Erik bought 103 BTC for about $12 each. It was a bold move for a twelve-year-old. But instead of waiting for years to pass, he decided to do things differently than most people.
The problem was that Erik didn’t feel comfortable in high school. Teachers discouraged him, and the quality of education was poor. One teacher even told him that his only future was at McDonald's. So at age 15, he begged his parents to let him drop out. They agreed, but with one condition — he had to become a millionaire by age 18. Otherwise, he would go back to college.
Motivation? A billion dollars. Almost literally.
Erik didn’t waste time. By the end of 2013, he sold all 103 Bitcoins at $1,200 each and made $120,000. That was pretty unusual — he sold before the big boom — but he had a plan. He started a startup called Botangle, an educational platform for frustrated students like him. He moved to Silicon Valley, met with industry people, built something from scratch.
When he found an investor for Botangle, he was given a choice: $100,000 in cash or 300 Bitcoins (then worth about $200 each). Everyone thought he was crazy for choosing Bitcoin. But Erik knew what he was doing. He said it was the next big trend.
And he was right.
In June 2017, Erik turned 18. His wallet held 403 Bitcoins plus some altcoins. Bitcoin was then around $2,700 each. Quick math: $1.08 million. The youngest Bitcoin millionaire achieved his goal exactly on time. His parents lost the bet.
Erik announced it publicly with pride. He wouldn’t go to college. And then, in 2017, he made a bold prediction — Bitcoin would reach $100,000 within ten years. Looking back, that vision was optimistic, but not entirely wrong.
Today, Erik is 25. On his X profile, he wrote that he is the youngest Bitcoin millionaire. His list of achievements before age 25? Dropped out of school, sold his startup, made a million on Bitcoin, built a working Doctor Octopus suit, launched a satellite, and started a crypto startup worth millions.
His story shows something important: in crypto, age, education, or background are not obstacles. All it takes is courage, knowledge, and belief in technology. Erik Finman is living proof that the youngest millionaire in the world can come from an unexpected source — a 12-year-old who listened to his intuition and invested in the future instead of what everyone else was saying.
