I just reviewed some numbers that really put things into perspective. We all wonder how much money is in the world, and the answer is more fascinating than it seems.
Look, most people think there's a huge amount of money circulating, but the reality is different. Physical cash (bills and coins) only amount to about $9 trillion. It sounds like a lot until you see the full picture.
Then there's money in bank accounts and deposits, which is where the real wealth is concentrated. We're talking about around $100 trillion in regular deposits, plus another $150 trillion in large funds and assets. So, the actual money circulating in the world is approximately $150 trillion.
Now, here’s the interesting part: the United States controls nearly $62 trillion of that $150 trillion. China follows with about $16 trillion, and Japan ranks third with $6.5 trillion. When you see these figures, you understand who really controls the global game.
What many don’t realize is that how much money exists in the world is only part of the equation. There are over a quintillion in total financial assets (stocks, bonds, derivatives), but that’s no longer real money; those are paper valuations.
This is exactly what those who say there’s no room for Bitcoin to keep growing are missing. When you see these numbers, you understand that the cryptocurrency market is still tiny compared to global wealth. There’s much more money waiting to find new destinations, and that potential is what makes following the movements of the big players so interesting.
