You ever wonder how some of the biggest brands started? Just found out something interesting about Victoria's Secret. Turns out the founder Roy Raymond got the idea from a pretty relatable moment—he felt genuinely awkward buying lingerie for his wife in a regular department store. Like, that simple embarrassment sparked an entire empire.

What I found cool is that it wasn't just a solo venture. His wife Gaye Raymond was right there with him from day one, helping design and build out that first store. They borrowed 40,000 from a bank and another 40,000 from family to get it off the ground. Not exactly massive capital by today's standards, but they made it work. The whole Victorian-era aesthetic that became the brand's signature? That was their vision brought to life.

Fast forward to today and it's wild to see where it landed. As of last year, Victoria's Secret & Co was valued at around 2.32 billion in market cap. That puts them as one of the most recognizable retail brands globally. Started from a personal frustration, turned into a multi-billion dollar company with a wife-and-husband team at the helm. Pretty solid origin story if you ask me.
