BYD EV subsidies did not increase
In Japan-U.S. tariff negotiations, Japan agreed to make it easier for U.S. automakers to obtain subsidies for battery electric vehicles (EVs). Subsequently, starting in January, the Japanese government revised its EV subsidy program, increasing the cap by 400,000 yen.
The increase in subsidies will be determined based on the previous amount. Toyota and U.S. Tesla, among others, increased by 400,000 yen to reach the cap, making them eligible for subsidies of more than 1 million yen. BYD’s subsidy is only 350,000 yen, so it did not increase.
