Recently, while looking at the BTC chart, I noticed a particularly interesting phenomenon. The trend of this asset seems to be playing out a classic market pattern—I call it the Livermore Accumulation Cylinder, which is a favorite accumulation method among institutional players.
Have you noticed that some assets repeatedly oscillate within a very clear upward channel? It looks calm on the surface, but behind the scenes, large funds are quietly accumulating. When I looked at BTC’s chart and compared it to the textbook case of the Livermore Accumulation Cylinder, it actually looked quite similar.
How does this pattern work? First, the price fluctuates within a defined upward channel, appearing very disciplined. Then you’ll notice that as the price approaches the upper boundary, trading volume begins to increase significantly. More importantly, each pullback becomes shallower and shallower—what does this indicate? It shows that buying pressure is continuously coming in. Large institutions are gradually accumulating positions this way; every time it seems like the price is about to fall, they quietly scoop up more.
Why go through all this trouble? The reason is simple—if institutions suddenly place large orders, the price would just shoot up immediately, and they wouldn’t be able to buy cheap chips. So they choose to slowly build their positions within patterns like the Livermore Accumulation Cylinder, accumulating enough volume. Once the timing is right, the price will suddenly accelerate upward, and retail traders will realize too late.
Looking at BTC’s current performance: $67.11K, 24-hour increase +0.48%, trading volume $243.54M, the trend definitely hints at this. The slow but steady upward pace, combined with gradually increasing volume, matches the characteristics of the accumulation phase in the Livermore Accumulation Cylinder.
If you can recognize this pattern early, you have the chance to get in before big funds start moving. The key is to observe those details—channel steepness, depth of pullbacks, changes in volume. When these elements come together, they can tell you whether institutions are making a Livermore Accumulation Cylinder-type setup. Have you seen similar trends in the coins you follow? Feel free to share your observations!
