A reporter from China Central Television learned that on the evening of March 29 local time, shortly after an Airbus A330 passenger aircraft under Delta Air Lines took off from Governador André Franco Montoro International Airport in São Paulo, Brazil, the left engine exploded. The pilots immediately turned back and carried out an emergency landing; the aircraft ultimately landed safely, with no injuries among the people on board. The flight had originally been planned to fly to Atlanta, USA. There were 286 people on board, and the flight was interrupted about 9 minutes after takeoff. In the accident, some parts of the aircraft fell into the grassy area of the airport and caused a fire, which has been brought under control by the fire department. The flight has been canceled for now, and subsequent travel will be rearranged; passengers have been placed in local hotels in São Paulo. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
