Have you ever thought about the total amount of money in the world? Actually, the answer to this question is much more complex than we think. Just looking at the US dollar, there are approximately $37 trillion worldwide. This includes all physical cash and funds held in bank accounts.

But the interesting part isn't here. When investment instruments, derivatives, and cryptocurrencies are combined, this figure exceeds 1.2 quadrillion. In other words, the total money in the world is not only in the traditional monetary system but also spread across various asset classes.

Looking at physical currencies, the situation becomes even more intriguing. The total value of coins and banknotes is only around $6.6 trillion. What about the rest? Digital. Bank deposits, liquid assets, and other financial instruments are measured in tens of trillions.

In conclusion, the majority of the world's total money supply exists in digital form, not physical. This explains why cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology have become so important. The traditional financial system has already digitized, and crypto is just accelerating this process. Maybe we need to think about these numbers today to remember what the future holds. 🫣
