Just looked at the long-term USD to PKR history and the currency depreciation story is pretty wild. From 1947 to 2024, Pakistan's rupee has taken quite a hit against the dollar.

Back in 1947 when Pakistan was founded, 1 USD was just 3.31 PKR. It stayed flat like that for years—literally the same rate from 1947 to 1954. Then things started moving. By 1955 it jumped to 3.91, and through the late 50s and 60s it held around 4.76 PKR. You could still get decent value.

But then things accelerated. The 1970s saw a big devaluation—jumped to 11 PKR in 1972. By the late 70s and 80s it was hovering around 9-20 PKR. Then the 90s happened. That's when the real depreciation kicked in. From 1989 onwards, it just kept climbing—20 PKR, then 30, then 40, then 50 by 1999.

The 2000s and 2010s? More of the same trend, just accelerating. 2008 hit 81 PKR. By 2018 we were at 139. And recently? 2022 saw 240 PKR per dollar, 2023 hit 286. That's the USD to PKR history in a nutshell—steady at first, then a long slow bleed that turned into a sprint.

It's a textbook case of currency depreciation over 75+ years. Wild to see it visualized like this.
