Sonic Labs just dropped a statement about Andre Cronje and the whole governance drama. Apparently the Korean team that launched Fantom back in 2018 basically fumbled the bag - failed to deliver anything functional and lost a ton of funds. Then Andre came in June 2018 and basically rebuilt the whole thing from scratch. The treasury went from less than 5 million in non-FTM assets to nine figures by 2020-2021, which is wild. What's interesting is they're clarifying that Andre doesn't unilaterally control the development fund - like that's been a point of contention. Also the original tokenomics weren't even Andre's design, that was all the Korean team in 2018. They modified it through on-chain governance later. And apparently Andre never actually left the project, still advises the technical team regularly. The statement also says there's been zero fund misappropriation, which I guess they felt needed clarifying. Honestly the whole thing reads like they're pushing back on some specific criticism that's been floating around.
