On Thursday, President Donald Trump announced that the U.S. Department of Justice will be led by Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, who will replace the suspended Attorney General Pam Bondi. Blanche represented Trump's interests in his criminal case in New York before Trump's re-election as President of the United States in 2024. Trump appointed him Deputy Attorney General after returning to his position. As Deputy Attorney General, Blanche ordered the dissolution of the Department of Justice's National Cryptocurrency Enforcement Team, established in 2022 under former President Joe Biden, and signed a 4-page memorandum instructing prosecutors not to pursue cases of regulatory violations in the cryptocurrency industry. This document was mentioned in a case filed by the Southern District of New York against Tornado Cash developer Roman Storm, which ultimately led to the dismissal of charges against Storm (Later, Storm was convicted on other charges and is scheduled for a retrial this year on two additional charges).#GateSquareAprilPostingChallenge
