The old statement from Bitcoin creator is once again being widely discussed after the quantum computing issue surfaced. It turns out that since 2010, Satoshi Nakamoto has already mentioned the potential threat.
In a forum discussion in 2010, he responded to the possibility that Bitcoin's digital signatures could be compromised if quantum computers develop rapidly. That statement is now going viral again.
“If the threat appears suddenly, it is indeed dangerous, but if it develops slowly, the network still has time to switch to a more secure system,” he wrote on BitcoinTalk 15 years ago.
The analyst pointed out that from the beginning, Bitcoin was not designed as a rigid system. The focus is not just on whether it can be hacked or not, but on how quickly new technology develops.
